CHSS students pass Canadian Welding Bureau welding tests

June 16, 2017

GUELPH, Ontario – Several students in the senior welding class at College Heights Secondary School have successfully completed the Canadian Welding Bureau welding tests.

The Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) certifies inspectors, companies, organizations and more through a series of qualifications. To achieve certification, these students engaged in several tests.

Student Mike MacIntyre received Horizontal (level 2) using the Shielded Metal Arc Welding process. Using the same process Hayden Shawcross received Flat (level 1).

Using a different technique, the Gas Metal Arc welding process, Kalmen Balkind, Riley Sikkes, Justin Cross, Greg Rovers, Samantha Aiken and Alex Shubrook received Flat.

Achieving Flat welding certification is the first level of certification. MacIntyre had previously completed Flat certification and was able to successfully pass the next level, Horizontal.

College Heights SS is an accredited testing facility for the CWB and therefore the testing was completed at the school. Students who received these certifications will be able to use them in welding positions anywhere in Canada.

Congratulations to the students on this great achievement.
