International Students go to camp for Orientation Week
September 5, 2017
GUELPH, Ontario – The Upper Grand District School Board welcomed students to the International Student Program with a fun Orientation Week.
This year, the International Student Program welcomed more than 180 new elementary and secondary students for the September intake.
Elementary students were able to register in person at their assigned school with a member of the International Student Program team.
At the secondary level, students met at two different locations on August 28 and 29 to participate in assessments in English and Math, to complete registration paperwork and to tour their assigned schools.
On August 30, secondary students were fortunate to spend the last few days of Orientation Week at Camp Kandalore in the Algonquin Highlands.
At camp, students participated in team building activities, canoeing, wall climbing, hikes, ropes courses and so much more.
This camping trip allows students to build friendships while learning about Canadian history, geography and culture, as well as reviewing the expectations for success in the UGDSB system.
Students and staff that attended camp created memories and had a great time.
