Dress Code

  • Muscle shirts, spaghetti straps and low scooped necklines are unacceptable.
  • Bare midriffs and backs are unacceptable; shirts must be ‘tuckable’ and not excessively tight
  • Shorts and skirts must be a reasonable length
  • Undergarments should not be visible
  • Attire must be free of symbols of hate, gang membership or images that portray violence, death, alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, racism, obscene words, political or sexual statements
  • Coats, outerwear and backpacks must be left in the assigned areas
  • Hats must be removed when you enter the building
  • Scarves must not be worn on playground equipment, remove all loose strings from your jacket

Student Responsibilities

In order to ensure a safe environment for all individuals at Brisbane, we expect each student to:

  • Treat others with respect and kindness
  • Accept responsibility for personal actions
  • Fulfill expected academic obligations and respect the right of others to learn
  • Come to school punctually each day, prepared and willing to learn
  • Obey the rules of the school and other sites visited during school activities
  • Obey all school staff and helpers
  • Demonstrate respect for self, others and property
  • Be honest and trustworthy
  • Use peaceful means to resolve conflict
  • Keep your hands and feet to yourself
  • Dress appropriately in accordance with the school Code of Positive Student Behaviour
  • Use courteous respectful language and good manners at all times
  • Respect equipment and materials belonging to the school, staff and others
  • Work hard at your classroom work and do the best you can do
  • If you were absent it is your responsibility to collect, complete and submit missed work.

If you fail to live up to the school’s expectations, you may be subjected to certain consequences.

Consequences

  • You may lose privileges
  • You may be asked to leave the classroom
  • You may get a detention
  • Your teacher may call your parents
  • You may lose extra curricular activity privileges
  • You may have to make a verbal or written apology
  • You may have to pay for something you break or damage
  • You may have t o meet with the Principal to correct your behaviour
  • You may have to complete a ‘Problem Solving Worksheet’
  • You may have t o attend an interview with your parents, your teacher and the Principal
  • You may be suspended from school or excluded from school programs

Playground

  • Keep your hands and feet to yourself
  • One-hand touch only in tag
  • Tag is not allowed on the playground equipment
  • Stay in the appropriate areas
  • If someone is bothering you tell them to stop. If they don’t stop, tell a teacher
  • Stay away from and never climb the fence
  • Treat the trees with respect
  • No throwing snowballs, stones, sticks, or other objects!
  • If you need to use the washroom ask the teacher on duty for permission to enter the school
  • Play fighting is not allowed
  • Baseball bats, skateboards, hard balls, and hockey sticks are not to be brought from home for use on the playground
  • In rainy weather and winter conditions, all playground equipment is off limits
