Dress Purple Day to raise awareness for child and youth abuse prevention

GUELPH, Ontario – On October 24, educators across the province, including those in the Upper Grand District School Board, will work to raise awareness for child and youth abuse prevention.
Each October, Children’s Aid Societies across the province work with school boards to promote children and youth safety and raise awareness for the responsibility of adults and community partners to help children and youth who need support.
Ontario Dress Purple Day will take place on Wednesday Oct. 24.
This year, the Ontario Association of Children’s Aid Societies has prepared an online classroom resource for teachers to help them make Dress Purple Day a meaningful learning opportunity for students.
Schools are encouraged to share how they are marking Dress Purple Day with the hashtag #IBREAKthesilence.
In Guelph, community members will come together to mark Dress Purple Day, recognizing that all children and youth have the right to safety and acknowledging that it takes a community to support the well-being of our children, youth and families.
