Preliminary information about remote learning options for the 2021-22 school year

May 6, 2021 (Updated May 12, 2021)

The Upper Grand District School Board is looking forward to welcoming students back in September 2021. We are currently working on plans for next school year, and once those plans are finalized we will share the information widely with our students and families.

The UGDSB will offer a remote learning option for both elementary and secondary students in the 2021-22 school year.

Please note that the Upper Grand District School Board remote learning program for the 2021-22 school year will NOT be a “hybrid model.” Students who register for remote school will be placed in the standalone elementary or secondary remote schools, where classes/courses are staffed by dedicated remote learning teachers.

In the coming weeks, the UGDSB will send out information about the 2021-22 elementary and secondary remote learning programs, as well as important dates and registration information.

While we believe that in-person learning best supports students, we recognize that some families may want their child to learn remotely, due to their unique circumstances.

We recognize that making a decision about next school year may be challenging, however families are asked to start thinking about their preference of learning mode (i.e. in-person vs remote learning) for the 2021-22 school year. Detailed information about the elementary and secondary remote learning programs will be shared with families prior to the registration period and deadline.

Families should note that the decision they make about remote learning vs in-person learning for 2021-22 will be for the entire school year (elementary) or semester (secondary), as movement between learning modes can cause disruptions for many students and classrooms.

Please see below for preliminary timelines and when students/families can expect to receive more information to help guide their decisions about next school year. Please note that due to differences in programming and timetabling, there are differences in the required timelines for elementary and secondary schools.
