Learning about residential schools on Orange Shirt Day

September 30 is Orange Shirt Day, a day for people to come together in the spirit of reconciliation and to keep discussing openly all aspects of residential schools.

Orange Shirt Day originated in the spring of 2013 as a response to Phyllis’ story about when she had her shiny new orange shirt taken away on her first day at the St. Joseph Mission residential school.

Support the Terry Fox Run/Walk on Friday, Sept. 21st

The Terry Fox Run is an annual non-competitive walk/run held by O.D.S.S. each year in commemoration of Canadian cancer activist Terry Fox, and his Marathon of Hope, and to raise money for cancer research. This Friday during Block B, we are asking all students to participate in our annual walk/run. Students are asked to donate to toonie or more for this cause. Donations may also be made on-line at …

Reporting Student Absences

You can let us know if your child missed school by:

  • telephone: 519-941-0491, ext. 258,
  • e-mail our attendance secretary: joanne.wilson@ugdsb.on.ca,
  • or send a note with your child on their first day back (note should be brought to the office)
Please let us know the date and times the child is excused (i.e. morning or all day) and the reason for the absence.
