Alma PS Community Updates – February 2021 School Reopening

Posted February 4, 2021

Hello there everyone,

I hope each of you is doing well and looking forward to our return to school on Monday, February 8th, 2021.  As mentioned before, thank you to all families, our students, and staff for a successful five weeks of online learning.  Everyone has worked so hard to make the best of a difficult situation.  We look forward to getting back to in-person learning and continuing with the 2020-2021 school year!

With yesterday’s Provincial announcement, I have received a number of questions regarding any changes to public health protocols and what to expect with the reopening of schools.  For the most part, our Covid-19 related safety measures remain the same:  mandatory self-screening before coming to school each day; increased hand sanitation and cleaning; mandatory masking; and 2 meter social distancing.  There has been a change to masking, with students now required to wear masks at all times while on school property, including outdoors (excluding eating times).

Linked here are a number of answers to “FAQs”, as well as reminders of previous protocols that will continue (not an exhaustive list but pertinent for families to know for before and after-school routines).  If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s classroom teacher or myself.  We will be sure to share any updates or changes as we learn more.

Thank you again for everyone’s efforts this year so far!  We have done so well as a community to stay positive and safe.  Please continue to stay home if you are ill and show any symptoms related to Covid-19.  We have done well as a school due to everyone’s diligence in staying home when ill.

We look forward to seeing everyone next week!

Sincerely,

Shannon Spike
