Terry Fox Run Update

Posted September 20, 2021

Please see below the Terry Fox Run update created by our Grade 6 class.  It is wonderful to see our students, under the direction of Mrs. Hons, take on this leadership opportunity and help with the planning, communicating and organizing.  Once the timing of the event during the school day is finalized by our grade 6 leaders, details will be shared with students over the daily announcements.  Since students will be running and walking outside on that day, it would be wise to consider which outdoor footwear students wear that day.  If it is extra warm, be sure to come dressed for the weather.  If a rain date is required, that information will be communicated.  Keep up the grade work Alma PS leaders!

Hello Parents/Guardians,

On Wednesday, September 29, we will be participating in the Terry Fox Run here at school.  Due to health and safety protocols, the run will be restricted to staff and students only.  Since we cannot invite parents or family members to join us, we encourage you to attempt a “Try Like Terry Challenge.”  A Try Like Terry Challenge is to make a goal and get sponsored by family and friends to complete that goal.

Over 10 million people die from cancer every year, so we are donating to lower that number.  We are hoping to raise $700 or beat our highest fundraising record of $618.  All the money that we raise goes to the Terry Fox Foundation and then that money goes to cancer research.  Please consider donating to help our school reach our goal.

Terry Fox did what he could, now let’s do what we can!
