Updates For November 5-12, 2021

Posted November 10, 2021

Hello Alma families.  I hope you’re enjoying the extra warmth and sunshine this week.  Here are the 5 things that you need to know this week:

1.  As the weather is shifting and changing, even throughout the day, please remember to check the forecast and teach your child to come prepared for the weather.  Knowing that mask breaks are so important, we try to be outside as much as we can, even if it’s lightly drizzling.  Please remember to send them with clothing that is both labeled and appropriate for the weather for that day.  Also, if your child is in kindergarten and hasn’t already sent in an “oops bag”, please do so as it helps if they happen to get extra wet on the yard or require a change of clothes for another reason.

2.  Photo retake day is November 25th.  If you require retakes, please return the envelope of photos you were provided with on the day and come dressed for photos.  This is also going to be our first “Feel Good Day” led by Student Council.  Please come dressed in what makes you feel good, comfy, and cozy.  For those participating in photo retakes, you might want to bring something to change into afterward.

3.  Kids Ability is changing the delivery model of how occupational therapy is delivered in schools starting in the new year to make it more accessible.  For more information, please see the following:  https://docs.google.com/document/d/14w476KeXX2Vti6CG_0GvkOreRq-EA_Wa/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=117004253006017485713&rtpof=true&sd=true.

4.  We appreciate the Elora Legion for their donation of the poppies for our Remembrance Day virtual ceremony tomorrow.  Students from grades Kindergarten to grade 4 will receive a poppy sticker and students from grades 5 and 6 will receive a poppy.  If you would like to make a donation towards this worthwhile cause, please contact the Elora Legion.  Lest we forget.

5.  With report cards coming out electronically again this year, please ensure that you are able to access them by setting up your Parent Portal.  Further instructions can be found here:  https://www.ugdsb.ca/parents/connected/.  Report cards plan to be uploaded and ready to view by November 16.  As well, stay tuned next week for further information about parent-teacher interviews.  Also remember that there will be a PA Day on November 26 which will help to facilitate these interviews.

Thanks again Alma PS families for all that you do to support our students and staff.  You’re an amazing part of the team and we appreciate what you do, especially your daily screenings which help to keep us all safe.

Take care,

Jason Boyce
Principal Alma PS
