Updates For November 15-19, 2021

Posted November 17, 2021

Hello Alma PS families!  We hope you’re having a great week and that the taste of snowy weather this week gave you hope of a great Winter Holiday Break that is coming up soon.  Here are the 5 things you need to know this week:

1.  Virtual access for report cards opened on Tuesday.  If you’re having difficulties accessing your report card, please contact the school office.  A paper slip went home for you to return with family feedback and goals for the remainder of the term.  Please return it to your child’s teacher ASAP.

2.  Parent-Teacher Interview scheduling began this morning.  Directions were sent home in a previous email or are available on our school website.  The window for scheduling a 10 minute Google Meet virtual interview will be closing at noon on Wednesday, November 24.  If you would prefer a telephone interview, please email your teacher.  Interviews will be held on Thursday, November 25 in the evening and during the day of Friday, November 26.  Please remember that it is a PA Day that day so that interviews can be taking place.  If you are having any difficulties scheduling interviews, please contact the office.  We are happy to help!

3.  The Alma Optimist Club is generously organizing a fundraiser for our school by selling Kitchen Kuttings products.  The deadline for ordering is November 24 and orders will be back to everyone by the afternoon of December 9th.  To order, please see the following digital form:  https://form.jotform.com/213188548351258.

4.  All schools in the UGDSB are beginning to work on an Equity Accountability Audit.  It is important for each school to ensure that we are being equitable and honouring the perspectives of the community we serve.  Principals from Schools in the Centre Wellington area have been meeting to create a common set of questions that best reflect the unique needs of our community.  We will be seeking input from our students in the next few weeks.  We also will be sending out an anonymous virtual survey for families to complete.  Stay tuned for further information about this next week.

5.  Don’t forget that Photo Retake Day is next Thursday, November 15.  If you would like retakes, please return the Lifetouch package you received after the original photo day.  As well, Thursday is Feel Good Thursday.  Students may come to school dressed in what makes them feel good.  If students are wearing something different for photo retakes, they will be given time to change into something more comfortable afterwards if they desire.

Thanks again for all of your support during these busy days.  As always, if there’s something that you need help with, please ask.  We are here to help!

Take care,

Jason Boyce
Principal Alma PS
