Updates For September 12-16, 2022
Hello Alma Families! Here are the 5 things you need to know today to keep up to date this week:
- Don’t forget that tonight is our first School Council meeting of the year in the library learning commons starting at 6:30 PM. Remember, if you would like to be a part of the emails that share more about School Council events, please contact the office and we will add you to the list.
- Please remember to check the weather forecast as you head out to school. As we know, fall sometimes brings misty rain and we encourage everyone to “Dress For The Drizzle.” If there’s not a major rain, students will be going outside to get some fresh air as it helps us be the best learners we can be. As well, please ensure as the weather turns that you have indoor shoes to help keep our halls clean and safe.
- Thanks to families for returning forms to the office and medical plans of care as well. Please remember that there are students in our school who have allergies including nuts. This is also important as our older students sometimes are lunch helpers. We all must do our part to keep students safe in the spaces where we enjoy our eating. Remember, nut substitutes such as soy butter are not permitted as we are unable to tell the difference easily. Thanks too for remembering to be nut aware if you are sending in items to share with students throughout the year.
- Every year, we hold practice drills with the students for various events, including fire, severe weather and lockdowns. Over the coming weeks, we will be doing 3 fire drills, a severe weather drill and a lockdown drill. Students will be prepared ahead of time by their teacher and will be made aware of the steps to follow for such drills.
- Again this school year, we have the opportunity to receive regular support from an Occupational Therapist from Kidsability throughout our school. The new model of service is detailed in the letter sent to your email.
