Updates For May 1-5, 2023

Posted May 5, 2023

Hello Alma Families!  Here are 5 things for you that are key to know for this week and next:

  1. Our School Council gardening committee has generously offered to spread the mulch that the UGDSB has sent for our school.  They would like to invite anyone else who would like to help to meet at the school tonight, Friday, May 5, at 6 PM.  Thank you very much to this group for helping in this way.

  1. We have had a generous donation today of a smile cookie for every student in the school.  We provided them to students to take home at the end of the day.

  1. Our final School Council meeting will be this coming Thursday, May 11 from 6:30-8:00 PM in the Library Learning Commons.  The agenda will be sent out next week.  If you are not on our emailing list and would like to be, please contact the office.  Thanks to our amazing School Council members for the contributions they make to our school community.

  1. Our school, like all UGDSB schools, will be having safety drills as part of our spring preparations.  By the end of the year we will be practicing 3 fire drills, 1 lock down drill, one severe weather and one safety evacuation drill.  Students will be coached through the process each time to help them be as prepared as possible.

  1. In case you missed it, our Free to Achieve Toonie Tuesday is open on School Cash Online until May 9th at 12 PM.  These funds will help extra needs across our Board be met.  If you would like to donate please visit https://ugdsb.schoolcashonline.com/.

Thanks as always for your continued support.  If there’s anything the school can do to help, please let us know.  We’re here to help!

Take care,

Jason Boyce
