Updates For May 8-12, 2023

Posted May 12, 2023

Hello Alma Families!  Here are 7 things for you that are key to know for this week and next:

  1. Our grade 2 students will be visiting the Arthur Agricultural Centre with students from across our region soon.  A special thanks goes out to the Alma Optimist Club for covering transportation costs for that event.

  1. If you know of students who are interested in Grades 6-8 numeracy and literacy programming this summer, please see the attachment in your email.

  1. Watch your child’s backpack next week for our final School Council fundraiser of the year of first aid kits from Canadian Safety Supplies.  School Council fundraising has been extremely successful this year and has helped to subsidize transportation costs for trips, purchase special items for the school and raise funds for our playground maintenance fund for our new playground.  Thanks to School Council and our families for your support and generosity.

  1. The UGDSB is promoting two upcoming webinars on Trauma-Informed Practices and an Affirming Adults Webinar.  If you are interested please check out the attached information in your email.

  1. As we work through May and June, students are to be using up their milk cards before the end of the year as they are not carried forward to next year and unused cards will be considered a donation to the program.  When considering purchasing a new card, remember as you plan that there are 12 milk and 24 count milk cards.  To order a new one please visit https://ugdsb.schoolcashonline.com/.

  1. The UGDSB has provided some information for families as you learn more about dealing with ticks.  You can read more in the attachment in your email.

  1. Mark your calendars!  There are a lot of important events coming up at Alma PS.  A few to tentatively mark on your calendars between now and the end of the year are included in your email.

Further information about each event will be sent out centrally or through classroom teachers as needed.

Thanks as always for your continued support.  If there’s anything the school can do to help, please let us know.  We’re here to help!

Take care,

Jason Boyce
