Updates For May 15-19, 2023

Posted May 18, 2023

Hello Alma Families!  Here are 5 things for you that are key to know for this week and next:

  1. A huge thank you goes out to our students who attended the guest presentations by Tim McGregor this week who presented on his Anishinaabemowin language and powwow regalia.  He wanted to pass on how appreciative he was of the warm welcome he received and extend a special thank you to our students for sharing their questions and ideas.  It was wonderful to see our students be such welcoming hosts.  Thank you!

  1. Please remember that Monday, May 22 is Victoria Day and there is no school.  We look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday, May 23.

  1. The Alma Optimist Bike Rodeo will be held on June 15th with a rain date of June 16th.  The organizers of the event are looking for 6 volunteers who could volunteer from 8:45 AM to 3:00 PM.  For those who have not attended the event before, students ride to school or drop off bikes and helmets that day and there are groups going through training sessions on bike safety and riding.  If you are interested in volunteering at this event, please contact the school office and we can ensure that you have the appropriate paperwork completed.

  1. The UGDSB is offering a special SafeTALK suicide prevention training seminar.  Please see the attachment in your email for more details.

  1. The UGDSB is also offering training on the topic of psychosis and cannabis.  If you are interested, please see the attachment in your email.

Thanks as always for your continued support.  If there’s anything the school can do to help, please let us know.  We’re here to help!

Take care,

Jason Boyce
