Glenn Wagner

Glenn Wagner, a teacher and Science Department Head at Centre Wellington District High School, will soon be making waves that ripple well beyond Fergus.

Wagner is taking a leave of absence from teaching high school to accept a one year position at the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics in Waterloo, effective September 2015. He will be working with the institute’s outreach team to promote science and modern physics to students and teachers in Canada and throughout the world. He will also be involved in creating hands-on student centred activities.

An accomplished educator, earlier this year Wagner was one of three Canadian teachers in the 50 finalists for the Global Teacher Prize competition. In 2011 received the Canadian Association of Physicists Award for Excellence in Teaching High School.

The Perimeter Institute is a leading centre for scientific research, training and educational outreach in foundational theoretical physics. Founded in 1999, its mission is to advance understanding of the universe at the most fundamental level, stimulating the breakthroughs that could transform the future. Perimeter also trains the next generation of physicists through innovative programs, and shares the excitement and wonder of science with students, teachers and the general public.
