Cultural day at Victory PS

Collage of photos from Victory Public School cultural dayImmigrant Services and Exhibition Park Neighbourhood Group hosted a free event in October at Victory Public School to celebrate diversity in the community and promote intercultural awareness.

Families in the community had a great day filled with cultural performances – Bollywood dancing, K-pop dancing, Salsa dancing, West African drumming, and dance performances by the Chinese Seniors dance group. Children were given passports to take a tour around the world and learn about other continents and try cultural crafts. Also a food table with tastes offered from all around the world. There were cultural games to be played in another area along with a map to pin where your heritage is from.

Immigrant Services ran “Digital Journeys,” which is a documentary about the stories of immigrants who have come to Guelph. Many volunteers from International Students at the University of Guelph acted as cultural ambassadors for this event.

It was a great experience for the kids to learn about other cultures and continents.
