Beyond Borders students to host virtual charity fundraiser

GUELPH, Ontario – Upper Grand District School Board students in the Beyond Borders program have been busy preparing for their upcoming charity fundraiser, Elevate, on June 24, 2021.

Each year, the grade twelve students in Beyond Borders demonstrate the skills they’ve learned by organizing, planning and hosting a charity fundraiser event. Due to the many COVID-19 restrictions, this year’s event is completely virtual.

COVID-19 has set everyone in a dull cycle of work and staying home. In order to combat this painful normalcy, this year’s Beyond Borders students are preparing a safe yet enjoyable online event for the Guelph community. This captivating night will include a silent auction, speeches and a variety of performances. Food delivery options are available for those that choose to take advantage of this extra perk. All proceeds from this year’s event will be donated to McMaster Hospital, Guelph General Hospital and Doctors Without Borders. 

Every aspect of the event is coordinated by students, including marketing, organizing finances, contacting sponsors and booking performers.

This event is open to the public. See the hard work of these dedicated students come to life for a safe and exciting evening of online fun. Tickets are $30 and VIP tickets are $90 (includes access to the event and a charcuterie box with curbside pickup. Optional $8 delivery charge for Guelph, Rockwood or Elora addresses).
