GUELPH, Ontario — The Upper Grand District School Board and the Upper Grand Contract Teachers’ Local of the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) are pleased to announce that they have reached a tentative collective agreement.
The tentative settlement was reached on Thursday April 23. It will be presented to the teachers and trustees at ratification votes which will be held on April 29 (ETFO) and April 28 (Upper Grand DSB).
“We look forward to the ratification of this agreement,” said Chair of the board, Bob Borden. “The positive relationship between the board and its teachers made it possible for both teams to work together with the ultimate goal of reaching a fair settlement that will benefit our students, the teachers, and the board.”
“We worked to incorporate the Provincial Discussion Table Agreement language and to resolve local issues in this tentative contract,” said Ruth McLean, President of the local federation. “We’re optimistic that our members will ratify this agreement.”
The federation represents approximately 1,300 public elementary contract teachers who work in 62 schools in the Upper Grand district.
