Upper Grand students win 10 medals in the Skills Canada – Ontario competition

GUELPH, Ontario (May 11, 2009) — Upper Grand students brought home 10 medals, including five golds, in the 20th Annual Ontario Skills Canada Competition. In addition, the board won the School Board Award of Excellence for being the top overall school board in Ontario.

Upper Grand students maintain high levels of success on Secondary School Literacy Test

GUELPH, Ontario (June 16, 2010) — Eighty-five percent of the grade 10 students who were eligible to write the EQAO’s Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) for the first time were successful this year, and many who did not succeed on their first try retook the test and passed, showing that the improvement plans and data tracking by the Upper Grand board’s schools are paying off in improved student learning.

Upper Grand students attend Vimy Ridge ceremony in France

GUELPH, Ontario (April 10, 2012) – Students from two UGDSB secondary schools were among an estimated 5,000 from across Canada who attended ceremonies in northern France on Monday (April 9) to mark the 95th anniversary of the Battle for Vimy Ridge.

Upper Grand Schools celebrate Education Week 2013

GUELPH, Ontario (May 2, 2013) — The Ministry of Education has designated the week of May 6 – May 10 as Education Week – a time to “celebrate our accomplishments and reflect on new and exciting challenges ahead.” In the Upper Grand District School Board, this week has been extended from mid-April to mid-May to allow schools the flexibility to plan events and activities to encourage the participation of as many parents, staff, students and community members as possible.
