French immersion program for Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6 students to start in Orangeville in September 2009

GUELPH, Ontario (February 25, 2009) — A Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6 French Immersion (FI) program will be implemented in Orangeville for Dufferin County students beginning in September 2009. Grades 7 and 8 will be added in the following two school years.

Bob Borden acclaimed for fifth term as chair of the Upper Grand District School Board

GUELPH, Ontario (December 2, 2008) — Bob Borden, trustee representing Orangeville, was acclaimed to his fifth term as Chair of the Upper Grand District School Board, at the board’s Inaugural Meeting held on Tuesday, December 2. Trustee Ralph Edwards, who represents the Townships of Guelph/Eramosa (Wards 3 and 4), the Town of Erin and the Township of Puslinch, was acclaimed as Vice Chair. Their terms of office run until December, 2009.

Board and unions ratify contracts

GUELPH, Ontario (December 2, 2008) — The Upper Grand District School Board has ratified tentative agreements reached recently with four of its bargaining groups: CUPE Local 256, Office Clerical and Technical (OCT), Educational Assistants and Special Program Assistants (EA/SPA), and Professional Student Services Personnel (PSSP). The unions have also ratified the contracts.
