Labour Update: No CUPE strike, regular school operations continue on Monday

On Sunday evening, Ontario’s Minister of Education, Stephen Lecce, announced that a tentative deal has been reached in negotiations between the province and CUPE Ontario. As such, all CUPE employees will report to work on Monday Nov. 21, 2022.

Labour Update: UGDSB contingency plans for week of Nov. 21-25, 2022

As you know, this week CUPE Ontario gave 5-days notice of a province-wide strike, putting them in a legal strike position as of Monday November 21. If the strike proceeds on Monday, the UGDSB has contingency plans in place. Please check the post for full details.

Trustee Mesenbrink elected as Chair of the Upper Grand District School Board

Trustee Ralf Mesenbrink, school board trustee for Wards 2, 3 and 4 in the City of Guelph, was elected Chair of the Upper Grand District School Board at the Inaugural meeting of the Board on November 15, 2022.

CUPE Ontario gives 5-days notice of potential job action

On Wednesday morning, CUPE Ontario said education workers have given 5-days notice of a potential province-wide strike. The UGDSB is monitoring this situation closely and our contingency planning continues. We will do whatever we can to keep students learning in-person, however this will be very challenging without the services of our valued CUPE employees.
