CCVI students excel at national programming competition
March 11, 2020
GUELPH, Ontario – Four students at Centennial Collegiate Vocational Institute recently participated in the James Robertson Memorial Programming Competition.
This competition is a national academic initiative that promotes the “Smalltalk” programming language in Canada. Smalltalk is an object-oriented, typed reflective programming language.
At the competition, teams of four students are tasked with programming a “robot mind.” This robot then competes in a simulated world against the other team submissions. The competition takes place over a five-week period and consists of five increasingly complex submissions.
After five weeks of hard work, CCVI students Brayden, Andrew, Alex and David finished second overall in Canada. Because of their second-place finish, these students will be attending a ceremony and banquet at Ryerson University where they will be presented with their $4,000 prize.
Great job!
