CDDHS hosted 18th annual Hair Off for Headwaters event

May 28, 2019

SHELBURNE, Ontario – On May 23, Centre Dufferin District High School hosted their 18th annual Hair Off for Headwaters assembly and fundraiser at the school.

This event began 18 years ago when a former teacher was diagnosed with cancer and, through his experience, he saw a need for more funding to keep quality cancer care local.

The Grade 12 Business Leadership class at the school organized this event. Students purchased tickets to attend the assembly, which featured staff and students getting their hair cut or shaved by local stylists who donated their time.

At the end of the assembly, the hair was sent away to be made into wigs for cancer patients.

During the assembly, several teachers received a pie to the face in recognition of their class meeting the goal of contributing at least $100 to the donation.

At the end of the assembly, the school had raised $4,800 for the cancer care unit at Headwaters Hospital in Orangeville.

In total over the past 18 years, CDDHS has donated more than $156,000 to the Headwaters Hospital Oncology Department.

Great job Centre Dufferin DHS!
