CDDHS students design holiday storefronts for local businesses

December 4, 2017

SHELBURNE, Ontario – Local businesses in Shelburne are looking festive thanks to the hard work of Arts and Business students at Centre Dufferin District High School.

In a partnership between CDDHS and Shelburne’s Business Improvement Association, students enrolled in the Arts and Business Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) program designed the holiday storefronts of eight local businesses.

In November 2017, SHSM students from CDDHS designed the holiday storefronts of 8 local businesses.

The students participated in Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship (ICE) training and spent a day meeting with business owners, designing window displays and purchasing supplies within a project budget.

Students were encouraged to think like visual merchandisers, finding ways to decorate for the season, while still promoting the business.

Students returned to the businesses a few days later with approved designs and decorated the storefronts for the holidays.

The partnership provided students with real world experiences in the business sector, while further engaging the youth and deepening their learning.
