CDDHS students learn from teaching a Kindergarten class

May 24, 2019

SHELBURNE, Ontario – Centre Dufferin DHS grade 11 students in Ms. Murray’s parenting class had a unique learning experience on May 24 when they were given the opportunity to spend the morning teaching the kindergarten students at Glenbrook Elementary School.

While in the classroom, CDDHS students used the Dash and Dot robotics equipment purchased through the Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) program to learn how to engage young students with STEM lessons.

Each CDDHS student was given a group of kindergarten students to work with in the morning. CDDHS students learned skills and teaching techniques related to their parenting program and the Glenbrook ES students learned how to engage with new technologies.

Both schools were excited about the partnership and hope to continue it in future school years.
