Centennial CVI adapts annual blood drive this school year

October 28, 2020

GUELPH, Ontario – Centennial Collegiate Vocational Institute is making some changes to their annual blood drive this year to work around COVID-19 limitations.

In previous school years, the school has hosted one big blood drive event at the school and several smaller events where students and staff would go to the blood donor clinic in a group.

Due to the current situation, the school had to adapt their annual blood drive because although many things have changed, they still want to create awareness for the importance of being a blood donor and to educate people on becoming lifelong donors. Students and staff at the school believe that if they start donating now, they can continue to value this way of making a difference in the community for years to come.

This year since gatherings are limited, the blood drive took on an educational focus asking students to educate neighbours, family and friends about the power of donating. Individuals are then able to make an appointment at a time that suits them with Guelph’s Canadian Blood Services.

We look forward to an update from CCVI to learn how many students, staff and community members signed up as donor through this campaign.
