March 12, 2020

SHELBURNE, Ontario – Students at Centennial Hylands Elementary School have continued their learning about Black History.

Grade 1 and 2 students in Mme. Scanlan’s class recently read Doreen Rappaport’s book Martin’s Big Words. This picture-book is a great introduction to young readers about the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Inspired by King’s life, students decided to create a portrait of King to display at the school so that everyone can learn how one person’s dream can change the world.
