Changes to UGDSB staggered entry schedule for elementary, secondary and remote schools

Important updates to the staggered entry schedule means the first day of school for students may have changed.

GUELPH, Ontario – In order to ensure the safety of students and to provide additional time for staffing schools, the Upper Grand District School Board’s schedule for staggered entry has changed.

Revised staggered entry schedules for elementary schools, secondary schools and the board’s full-time remote learning schools are posted on the board website at www.ugdsb.ca/fall2020entry.

The reason that additional time is required is due to the extension of the board’s student pre-registration period, which pushed back staffing timelines and also impacted the time available for schools to timetable and schedule appropriately.

Staggered entry will take place over a two-week period. Families are encouraged to review the schedule for their child at www.ugdsb.ca/fall2020entry as these schedules have changed from what has previously been communicated.

All students in our self-contained developmental programs will continue to start school full-time on Tuesday September 8, 2020.

In elementary schools, staggered entry will be done using an alphabetical model, with staggered entry beginning on Thursday Sept. 10 (please see the schedule posted online for full details).

In secondary schools, school reorganization will take place on Sept. 8 and 9. Grade 9 orientation sessions will be held on Sept. 10 and 11, with students in all grades beginning instruction on Monday Sept. 14.

Students enrolled in the UGDSB’s elementary remote school will begin on the 14th or 15th (please see the schedule posted online for full details). Students enrolled in the UGDSB’s secondary remote school will begin on Sept. 14.
