CHSS students become first high school students in Ontario to get HAAS CNC Operator certification

December 3, 2019

GUELPH, Ontario – Two students from College Heights Secondary School have successfully completed the HAAS CNC Operator certification.

Kevin and Sawyer travelled to a HAAS Facility in Toronto earlier this year where they individually demonstrated their CNC operation knowledge and practical skills to a HAAS Applications Engineer. Each exam lasted 30 minutes and both Kevin and Sawyer persevered through the pressure to become the first high school students to complete the HAAS Mill Operator Certification in the Upper Grand District School Board and the province.

To achieve this, the students needed to average 30 hours of machine operation in class, demonstrating specific skills while also completing a required 20-hour online course study.

Great job Kevin and Sawyer!
