CHSS students place 1st in Farm to Cafeteria Canada contest

June 6, 2018

GUELPH, Ontario – Two grade 10 students at College Heights Secondary School took on an extra art project and their efforts paid off.

Michael and Jasmine created a poster advertising the school’s salad bar. The salad bar is run through the Ontario Farm to School Initiative. In collaboration with Ms. Furfaro and Mr. Dix, the students created a poster for a Farm to Cafeteria Canada (F2CC) Grant contest.

F2CC is a Canadian organization that strives to educate Canadians about sustainable foods, eating local and more. According to their website, the F2CC vision is creating “vibrant and sustainable regional food systems that support the health of people, place and planet.”

The contest that Michael and Jasmine entered was designed to provide grants to schools to help bring local foods into schools that feature a salad bar.

Michael and Jasmine’s poster won first place in this contest.
