Conestoga College and UGDSB offering summer school Dual Credit courses

May 22, 2020

GUELPH, Ontario – In partnership with Conestoga College, the Upper Grand District School Board Dual Credit program is offering Grade 12 students the option of taking a Summer School Dual Credit course beginning on Monday, July 6 and running until Friday, July 17.

The Dual Credit program allows students to earn one credit that will count toward both their Secondary School Transcript and a College Transcript. Students will be fully supported by a secondary school teacher while participating in this course.

Due to the current situation, all three of these dual credit courses will be offered completely online.

The courses being offered this summer are:

Unlike other e-Learning summer school courses where you can set your own hours, students must be available during the school day for activities with the instructor and classmates and other activities that are monitored by the Dual Credit teacher.

Students must also have access to adequate technology (e.g. laptop, desktop computer, Mac, tablet) and reliable Wi-Fi in order to participate in these courses.

Students cannot be registered in more than one summer school program in the same session (i.e. students cannot register for a summer school Dual Credit course and an onsite summer school course).

How to register for an Online Summer School Dual Credit Course:

  1. Review the Summer School Dual Credit flyer  to decide which course you would like to apply to as spaces are limited.
NOTE: These courses are aimed toward Grade 12 students who are within 1 or 2 credits of graduation. If you are currently a grade 11 student, you will be added to a waitlist and if there are spaces available following the registration deadline of June 19th, your application might be considered.

  2. Register using the Online Summer School Dual Credit Application Form before the deadline of 3:00 pm on Friday, June 19.

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to contact Joanne Harris, Dual Credit Coordinator, Upper Grand District School Board, at [email protected].
