May 10, 2018
ORANGEVILLE, Ontario – Things are looking green at Credit Meadows Elementary School.
On Wednesday May 9, the school held a special event – Going Green in the Meadows. The event was hosted by the CMES School Council and was funded through a Parents Reaching Out (PRO) Grant from the Ministry of Education.
Throughout the evening, CMES families learned about a variety of environmental issues and learned strategies for helping to protect the environment.
Stations throughout the school included:
- Building a bee hotel with the school’s Green Machine team
- Making a re-usable t-shirt bag
- Making seed bombs or seed planters
- Arts and Crafts with twigs, food stamp art and colour your own energy card reminders
- Learning how to make beeswax wraps
Families also had the chance to meet Dufferin Waste’s compost worms and learn about local food at the Headwaters Food & Farming Alliance booth.
Parents were also asked to bring in plants to add to the school’s pollinator garden.
