CUPE Ontario gives 5-days notice of potential job action

November 16, 2022

*In the UGDSB, CUPE represents custodial staff in many schools, maintenance staff in all UGDSB schools, and ESL Instructors in our Adult ESL Continuing Education program.

Please see the update below regarding provincial labour negotiations between CUPE Ontario and the province.

On Wednesday morning, CUPE Ontario said education workers have given 5-days notice of a potential province-wide strike.

The UGDSB is monitoring this situation closely and our contingency planning continues. We will do whatever we can to keep students learning in-person, however this will be very challenging without the services of our valued CUPE employees.

We will be providing additional information about UGDSB’s plans for next week as soon as possible.

Updates will continue to be shared with the public at https://www.ugdsb.ca/board/labour-updates-2022-23/

Thank you.
