June 16, 2021

FERGUS, Ontario – Centre Wellington District High School student Bridgette recently competed at the National Skills Canada competition and was awarded the silver medal in the Workplace Safety category.

During this virtual competition, Bridgette’s knowledge of workplace safety was put to the test.

Bridgette was required to demonstrate that she knew the fundamental principles of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) by recognizing, assessing and controlling hazards in the workplace. She was also given a Hazard Identification and Control activity that required her to demonstrate her skills by assessing and suggesting controls for hazards that are identified in the workplace.

For her final task, Bridgette was assigned a scenario involving an OHS issue. This task required competitors to research and develop recommendations, which were submitted to judges.

Congratulations Bridgette for taking home the silver medal from this competition.
