Dress Purple Day to raise awareness for child abuse prevention

October 20, 2017

GUELPH, Ontario – October is Child Abuse Prevention Month in Canada. Next week, the Upper Grand District School Board, Family and Children’s Services of Guelph and Wellington County and Dufferin Child and Family Services are coming together to raise awareness for the protection of all children in our communities.

On October 24, the Upper Grand DSB will join many other boards in Ontario by participating in Dress Purple Day. By dressing in purple, we are speaking up and sharing the message that child abuse can be prevented.

Classroom resources for Dress Purple Day have been provided by the Ontario Association of Children’s Aid Societies (OACAS) and can be found on the OACAS website.

Students and staff can help raise awareness for Child Abuse Prevention Month by wearing purple on October 24.

“It takes a village to keep kids safe,” – tweet @ugdsb your pics on Dress Purple Day using the hashtag #IBREAKthesilence.
