Erin DHS named top supporter by Terry Fox Foundation

April 13, 2023

ERIN, ON – At the end of March, the Top 50 Terry Fox School Run Fundraisers of 2022 list was announced by the Terry Fox Foundation. One Upper Grand District School Board school was ranked in the list.

We are pleased to announce that Erin District High School ranked 18 in the Secondary Division. In 2022, EDHS raised $11,886.46 for the Terry Fox Foundation. This amazing achievement now means that EDHS has raised $198,709.38 for the Terry Fox Foundation since they began doing the Terry Fox School Run over 30 years ago.

EDHS is one of the UGDSB’s smallest secondary schools with a population of around 500 students, which makes this achievement even greater.

According to EDHS teacher Jocelyn Wombwell, “We could not achieve this success without the continued support of our incredible community…we are so grateful to everyone! Further to this, we are extremely lucky to have access to the Elora-Cataract trail in order to complete our school event. We hope that we will be able to continue carrying on Terry’s legacy in the years to come.”

The Terry Fox School Run happens annually across Canada as Canadians continue to be inspired by Terry’s legacy. According to the Terry Fox Foundation Terry’s “vision transformed the landscape of cancer research, which has led to progress not even imaginable when he first set out.”

Congratulations Erin District High School on this amazing achievement!
