Family & Children’s Services in need of foster parents

June 24, 2019

GUELPH, Ontario – Did you know that there has been a continuous decline in available foster parents across Ontario in recent years?

Family and Children’s Services of Guelph-Wellington (FCSGW) is in immediate need of recruiting foster parents.

FCSGW works within our school communities to help ensure that children and youth who are not able to be with their parents are with people who can provide them with a safe and caring place until they are able to return to their family.

Foster parents provide children and youth with stability, love, warmth, understanding, consistency and structure. FCSGW foster parents go through a detailed and standardized application and screening process and are required to attend training prior to becoming an approved foster home.

In the last several years, the number of available foster parents in our communities has been declining, to the point that FCSGW says they are now at a crisis point. Without foster parents, children and youth are placed far away from their family, school and friends.

FCSGW is asking anyone who may be interested in becoming a foster parent to contact them at 519-824-2410 or [email protected].
