February 9, 2018
ORANGEVILLE, Ontario – On Friday, the Federal Government made an announcement at the Grant Evans Education Centre in Orangeville that the Dufferin Arts Council has been awarded $25,000 in funding.
This funding falls under the New Horizons for Seniors Program Grant in the Community Based Projects category for a “Multicultural Intergenerational Writing Program.”
The grant will help support the program running in some Dufferin elementary schools from March 1, 2018 to February 28, 2019.
The goal of the program is to bring together senior members of the Dufferin Arts Council with students in grades 7 and 8. The students and council members would connect to share culture and personal stories. The Dufferin Arts Council hopes to attract Indigenous and immigrant seniors.
