Garden plants, herbs and handcrafted items for sale at College Heights’ annual spring event

For Immediate Release
April 21, 2016

GUELPH, Ontario – It’s that time of year when bright green buds start to peak through the soil – and our attention turns to the great outdoors.

College Heights Secondary School is holding its annual spring sale from Thurs. May 5 to Sat. May 7. The sale is a popular event made possible by the hard work and collaboration of a number of classes.

The Green Industries and SHSM Horticulture and Landscaping classes have been working in the greenhouse all semester, growing a variety of perennials, annuals, veggies, herbs, tropical plants and seasonal containers.

Agriculture co-op students have grown a selection of herbs and vegetables to sell, including basil, rosemary, cilantro, peppers, tomatoes and onions. Food for sale will also include homemade sausages and an assortment of baked goods prepared by the school’s Hospitality and Baking classes.

Construction, Manufacturing and Welding students have designed and built a variety of landscape and household items, including garden benches, cutting boards, and original metal works pieces.

The three-day event will also feature performances and presentations by students in the Fine Arts department, including dance performances, live music and visual art displays. New this year, students from the school’s music classes will be on hand to provide guitar stringing, tuning and repair services.

The CHSS Spring Sale is open to the public, community members are welcome to come check out the great services and products that CHSS students provide.

All funds raised during the sale go toward sustaining and enhancing school programs.
