Gateway Drive PS begins development of community garden

October 3, 2022

GUELPH, ON – Gateway Drive Public School in partnership with Parkwood Garden Neighborhood group have successfully established the first out of four phases for their community garden project.

The project contains nine community plots for students to grow vegetables for their school.

“This has brought our community together in such a positive way and has allowed our students and families to give back to the community,” said Gateway Drive PS Principal, Chad Reay.

The second part of the four-phase project is for Gateway Drive PS to renovate and improve the kindergarten play area. This phase was fundraised by the school and included parent/guardian, community, staff and student input into the design and structures that went into it.

The third and fourth phases of this project will include natural climbing structures and an embankment slide with a climbing wall for students to interact and play on.

Students and staff at Gateway Drive PS want to give a huge thank you to all the parents, guardians and community members who made donations and contributions toward their school’s project.
