GCVI music teacher wins Beckwith Award

GUELPH, Ontario – Guelph Collegiate Vocational Institute teacher Dan Austin has recently been named one of the winners of the first ever Beckwith Award.

The Beckwith Award was named after John Beckwith, who was one of the co-founders of the Canadian Music Centre (CMC). “The Beckwith Award was established to recognize and celebrate the extraordinary contributions of Ontario-based individuals and organizations that connect audiences and learners with contemporary music and composers.”

The inaugural award was given to five winners including GCVI’s Dan Austin.

This award will be presented to Austin when the CMC is able to begin operations again.
