GCVI student selected for Parliamentary Youth Forum

December 14, 2017

GUELPH, Ontario – A grade 12 student from Guelph Collegiate Vocational Institute has been selected to attend the Youth Forum at Parliament in Ottawa.

GCVI student, Olivia Haworth, will join several other Canadian students for a week in 2018 for this experience. According to the Forum for Young Canadians website, students will experience a week that will change their life. Olivia will have the chance to visit the Senate and House of Commons, enjoy breakfast at the Senate with Senators, attend a reception where MPs are invited to attend, visit Rideau Hall and more.

According to one of Olivia’s teachers, Andrea Roche, “Olivia has a quiet style of leadership in our school. She is a Link Crew Leader and has been active in promoting awareness around the school for important national issues such as Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls and Women’s Rights.”

Andrea said that Olivia will be an excellent ambassador in Ottawa for both Guelph CVI and the Upper Grand District School Board.

Congratulations, Olivia!
