During the week of April 22, sixteen Guelph CVI students travelled to Dawson City to experience life up north.

According to GCVI grade 11 student William, while visiting Dawson City, GCVI students saw firsthand what life is like in the Yukon. Students travelled to the top of a mountain on their first night of the exchange to see a once in a lifetime view of Dawson City. They went hiking and camped for three days.

William said that they were led on a tour during the week where Indigenous peoples explained the significance of certain mountains and mountain ranges and how they relate to Indigenous culture.

When asked what his favourite part of the exchange was, William said, “seeing the scenery [of Dawson City], and having the chance to make new friends.”
