Grade 12 students aim to raise $150,000 to support charities

GUELPH, Ontario- The 43 students in the 2022-2023 Beyond Borders Leadership Program are working hard to meet their goal of $150,000 from their charity gala, which will go to various charities they are supporting.

Each year, the grade twelve students in Beyond Borders demonstrate the skills they’ve learned by planning, organizing and hosting a charity fundraiser event as the final culminating project.

This year’s event, “Imagine,” will feature live acts from professional performers and powerful guest speakers. There will also be a silent auction, a 50/50 draw, and food and beverages before the show and during intermission.

“Imagine” will raise funds for four causes: The Foundation of Guelph General Hospital, the Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington, the David Suzuki Foundation, and the Make Your Mark Foundation in Memory of Kayla Chadwick – causes that are close to the hearts of Beyond Borders staff and students. As well, 40% of the proceeds will go to the Beyond Borders program to lower costs and promote equity of the program.
