Grade 9 Norwell DSS students learn about high school at 7th annual Link Day

September 6, 2017

PALMERSTON, Ontario – New students at Norwell District Secondary School had the chance to meet classmates and learn about high school before the start of classes.

On Wednesday August 30, Norwell hosted its annual Link Day for all incoming grade 9 students. The program began back in 2010 as a way to ease the transition for students coming to secondary school from elementary.

Link Day is an opportunity for incoming students to meet new people, explore the school, and learn valuable information about high school. On Link Day students received their timetable and locker along with valuable information about the high school and what to expect.

Students participated in an interactive assembly, worked in small groups to complete challenges together, were provided a tour of the school and discussed “what every grade 9 needs to know.”

In the upcoming months, the school’s Link Leaders will visit the Grade 9 classes to check in and offer helpful activities that range from time management to study tips.
