Information for parents/guardians about unacceptable social media challenges

October 5, 2021

Upper Grand District School Board administrators have been made aware of a social media TikTok challenge circulating widely in Canada and beyond that encourages students to participate in harmful, destructive and in many cases illegal behaviour.

These activities are unacceptable and will not be tolerated in UGDSB schools. Students should be aware that engaging in these activities could have serious consequences.

All students are required to adhere to the UGDSB’s Safe Schools and Code of Conduct policies.

Schools will continue to reinforce the importance of online safety and digital citizenship.

We are encouraging all families to reinforce with your children the importance of using technology responsibly and adhering to the UGDSB and school Codes of Conduct.

There is also information about Digital Citizenship posted on the UGDSB website, which all students and families are encouraged to review: https://www.ugdsb.ca/students/technology/digital-citizenship-in-the-ugdsb/
