Inuit students invited to take provincial survey on well-being

October 16, 2017

GUELPH, Ontario – Inuit students in K-12 schools in Ontario are invited to participate in a survey on wellness.

Tungasuvvingat Inuit (TI), a provincial non-profit organization based in Ottawa, is conducting an Inuit student well-being research project in partnership with the Ministry of Education. TI’s mission is to provide programs and services that contribute to the health and well-being of Inuit in Ontario.

Over the next two months, they are engaging with Inuit students enrolled in K-12 schools in Ontario, and their families, in order to develop and identify Inuit indicators of wellness. To achieve this, they are conducting a survey for all Inuit students (grade 7-12) and their parents/guardians (K-12).

The survey is available online at www.surveymonkey.com/r/6zkhscj. Participants’ personal information will not be shared and all personal information will be kept confidential.

The researchers are also inviting Inuit students and their families to gatherings at select cities, including in Toronto on October 18 and in Scarborough on October 19.

TI’s hope is to hear from Inuit students and their families, to include their voices in the research project and to collaborate to determine how to better improve Inuit student well-being and success.

Survey responses will be collected until the end of November. A final research report will be submitted to the Ministry by the end of December 2017.
