John Black PS gets new accessible primary playground

June 21, 2017

FERGUS, Ontario – John Black Public School was fortunate enough to improve their playground through the help of community sponsors.

There were many smiling faces at John Black Public School as the first stage of the playground improvement project was completed last week. Principal Scott Preston officially opened the new primary playground on June 16. All of the primary students (Kindergarten to grade 3) came out for a group photo with handmade Thank You signs to show their heartfelt thanks to all of the families, teachers, volunteers and community sponsors who made this possible for them.

This accessible playground will be enjoyed by students for years to come and gives them a fun and creative space to play, learn and grow.

The school’s playground committee has been fundraising since September 2016 with the intent of replacing the Primary playground, installing a Junior climber and adding Intermediate upgrades. The goal is to reach $55,000 and currently with the generous support of school families and community sponsors, the school has raised just over $43,000.

Intermediate benches will soon be installed and plans are in motion to look at getting the Junior climber installed this upcoming 2017/18 school year.

The school would like to thank the John Black PS families and community sponsors for helping this make this playground a reality.
