GUELPH, Ontario – John F. Ross CVI has received several awards for its dramatic production of Boys, Girls, and Other Mythological Creatures.
From May 8 to 11, Ross’s RECAP Drama program participated at the National Theatre School’s Ontario Drama Showcase in Brantford.
In order to make it to the provincial showcase, secondary school drama groups must first enter one of approximately 24 district festivals held throughout the province. District finalists are then invited to one of six regional festivals. Two Outstanding Productions from each regional festival are invited to perform at the Ontario Showcase.
Ross students performed along with 11 other top shows in the province. The production, Boys, Girls, and Other Mythological Creatures, received wonderful feedback and a standing ovation from the audience, who called the play important, touching and powerful.
The production received an Outstanding Production Award and student Emma received an award for lighting. Another Ross student, Mya, received a bursary to put toward her education in the performing arts.
Congratulations to Indika, Mya, Jacob, Peyton, Emma, Andre, Angela, Molly, Omar, and Scoti, and the entire RECAP team.
Boys, Girls, and Other Mythological Creatures will be presented the evenings of June 11 and 12 at the E.L. Fox Auditorium at John F. Ross CVI, along with the Acting & Technical Theatre class’ production of Live On Stage Uncensored.
