John F. Ross CVI students launch annual FROSTY fundraiser
December 12, 2018
GUELPH, Ontario – Students and staff at John F. Ross CVI launched their annual FROSTY fundraising campaign on December 10.
FROSTY (Friendly Royals Offering Stuff to Yuletide) is a two-week event where Ross staff and students raise money and collect donations for Guelph charities.
The FROSTY Communications Team at the school is student run and they are responsible for spreading information about FROSTY around the school. According to the team, most student participation “comes largely from understanding the importance of this event to our community as well as how their efforts make an impact on families in need.”
This year, the school has multiple events planned to meet their fundraising goals. Events include a teen gift drive and hamper collection. Students will also be collecting linens, winter clothing, food items and toiletries. Homerooms will be competing in a variety of spirit events including a gingerbread decorating competition, a dodgeball tournament and classroom decorating.
This year, donations will be made to Wyndham House in Guelph, the Guelph Drop-in Centre, the Guelph Food Bank and Emma’s Toy Drive. Students at John F. Ross CVI have set some exciting fundraising goals this year for the FROSTY campaign.
The students’ goal this year is 200 hampers for the Guelph Food Bank, 400 teen gifts for Emma’s Toy Drive, $6,000 for the Drop-in Centre Guelph, 50 pairs of socks for Wyndham House and 500 lbs of clothing and linens for Wyndham House.
The two weeks of festivities will follow the same tradition as past years and will end with a FROSTY assembly on December 21.
FROSTY Communications Team members said, “We are honoured to play such an important role in our community’s fundraising efforts and in the lives of families around the winter holiday season. FROSTY is a huge success every year and this year we expect the same participation and positive spirits!”
Good luck to all students and staff participating in FROSTY activities this year.
